English Language Schools in Australia

Juan from Columbia studies English at GEOS Queensland College of English at the Gold Coast in Queensland.

Why did you choose Australia?

Because of my girlfriend. She is in Melbourne to study. To be closer to her I decided to go to Australia for a longer time as well.

And why did you choose the Gold Coast?

I wanted to be close to the ocean and still enjoy the cosmopolitan life. But now I will change to a language school in Sydney. Four months at the Gold Coast is enough for me I need to see something different.

How do you feel being and studying in a foreign country?

Very Good, it´s very easy to find a job and an apartment here. Everything is more flexible and less complicated.

How can you handle the language?

Good! If you have to speak English the whole time it is getting better and better every day.

What is it like being a language student?

It makes everything easier. You find friends really fast and you can do a lot of organized trips with the language school, which are cheaper than the normal activities would be.

What are you doing in your leisure time?

In the evenings I like to go to a pub and meet my friends. I drive a lot with my bike and I am in a soccer team as well.

Do you have some tips for people who think about coming to Australia?

Travel as much as you can, so that you can collect as many impressions as you can. Sometimes you just drive 20 minutes with the car and you think you are in a different country.

What do you think of the Australian people?

I don´t know many Australian people because I have all my friends in the language school. However, in restaurants or in shops they are really polite.

Is there anything else you want to add?

It´s very nice here but I miss my country. I couldn´t stay here forever.
